Science

HOW DO PLANTS GROW?

Learn about how plants grow

by experimenting with this interactive science activity.

LET´S FIND OUT

Planting seeds is a hands-on way to teach kids about the life cycle of plants.

The students in groups prepare all the neccesary elements to plant a seed and make it grow.

They will need:

  • A packet of seeds
  • A small pot
  • Some potting soil

The process allows kids the opportunity to view

germination and root growth as it happens, with

an additional focus on soil, water and light requirements.

Growing plant seeds with kids teaches them how nature works, responsibility in caring for something, an interest in the environment

Once the seeds have sprouted and entered the maintenance phase, each child ends the project with a young plant that will serve as a reminder of their labor.

TEACHING VOCABULARY

LEARNING VOCABULARY MUST BE FUN

A group pupils of second of Primary are showing us how this can be done.

All estudents take part in the activity

The activity consist on  identifying a written word or expression in such a way that every time they see it they know what it means.

They match it with a colourful picture displayed in the classroom.

Everyone can see and think about what his/her classmate is doing.

Apart from that,  the students prepared a mini book that everyone uses in class.

Here, in the picture, Irene is asking her classmates words, sentences, and some basic  concepts of grammar included in the didactic units.

This active way of learning vocabulary  becomes a  fun  classroom game where everyone participates.

It also helps our students to be ready for "The Starters" Cambridge Examination.

Peace at School

In every group the teachers of English have been preparing the students for the celebration of  the Peace Day on the 30th of January.

They have talked in English about the values of being in peace, about friendship and care for others.

They decorated the classrooms and

 draw pictures.

They sang and listen to songs and poems about peace.

The celebration started in the afternoon, reading the students´poems and singing in Spanish and English.

We all carried a baloon with our special wish of peace.

They enjoy thowing baloons to the sky, joining everyone´s  wishes of peace.
